Coronation Street Kit star's real-life heartache after split from girlfriend

Coronation Street: Kit admits he is 'not always a nice person'

Coronation Street favourite Jacob Roberts, famed for his role as Christopher "Kit" Green, has parted ways with PR executive Amy Harris after a love story spanning five years. The 33 year old actor raised eyebrows in June by purging every snapshot of Amy from his Instagram profile, a step reciprocated by Amy, hinting at their split.

The duo were a common fixture at glitzy bashes and cosy dinners, but the catalyst behind their separation remains shrouded in mystery, according to OK!.

Their abrupt disconnect follows Jacob's stint on Hollyoaks as Damon Kinsella, a gig he maintained until it was cut short by a show-revamping move in 2023.

Since his explosive entrance onto the set of Coronation Street, he's been enmeshed in the perplexing Lauren Bolton vanishing act and the intrigue tied to Joel's demise. Lately, fans have pieced together hints that suggest Kit may be more entwined with Joel's murder than first appeared, particularly during scenes with DS Swain (played by Vicky Myers) that seem to unravel a potential collusion between the two, leaving viewers to ponder who truly dealt the fatal blow.

One viewer took to the internet, theorising: "I'm going full Dee dee style detective with this and I need a life but when Kit and Swain are in Joel's flat they're clearly discussing/making sure they have a believable story and are leaving no evidence behind in their cover-up.", reports the Mirror.

While another added fuel to the speculative fire with: "Rewatched the scenes, when Swain said "Betsy's involvement changed everything" - she has so killed him/ accidentally killed him."

Jacob, the latest addition to the soap's cast, could hardly contain his enthusiasm as he remarked: "It's absolutely amazing... when I walked on set for the first time it felt a bit overwhelming because the attention to detail is just incredible, it actually makes you feel that you are on a real street."

He went on to add: "My mum and dad are really chuffed too which is lovely. My mum has always watched Coronation Street, I've always kept up to date with it too, so it just feels surreal to be here. Meeting all of the cast and crew was great, I really do feel at home here."

Delving into his character, Jacob disclosed: "I'm looking forward to everyone meeting Kit but I do think he is going to be a very misunderstood character at first. He's been really hurt throughout his life and although he has a good heart, he has some deep-rooted resentment with his biological mum, Bernie, which will be really interesting to play out."

Coronation Street is on ITV at 8pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
