Transgressive Records shared a post on their official Instagram account with a caption that read: “NEW SIGNING: following the receipt of their Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at the @aim_uk awards last night, weâre delighted to announce the signing of the pioneering duo, @sparks_official! An as yet untitled new studio album, (the bandâs 28th!) is set for release in 2025.”
Toby L, the founder of Transgressive Record, also shared an Instagram post celebrating the signing of Sparks. “An honour and utter privilege to welcome the legendary @sparks_official to the @transgressivehq Records roster. They have been an inspiration to me since I first saw them on television as a kid. Their new music is sensational. A lot more soonâ¦,” read the caption.
In a four-star review of Sparks’ ‘The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte’, NME shared that the album “is a reminder that even now, Sparks are completely content with boldly going first, taking their music into ambitious territory no one else has been before, making it easier for other acts to (hopefully) follow suit.”
In other news, The Last Dinner Party recently covered Sparks’ 1974 track âThis Town Ainât Big Enough For The Both Of Usâ on their recent LP âPrelude To Ecstasy: Acoustics and Coversâ.
