Scottie Scheffler risks angering PGA Tour stars after revealing Masters dinner plan

Reigning Masters champion Scottie Scheffler has hinted at a menu encore for the 2025 Champions Dinner, after his winning choices from two years prior won acclaim.

Basking in the glory of his spectacular 2024 season, which saw him secure a commanding four-shot lead and don his second green jacket at Augusta National, Scheffler is set to decide on the culinary lineup for next year's prestigious event as the defending champion.

Established tradition dictates that the previous year's winner curates a menu for the illustrious Champions Dinner, held on the tournament's eve. Following his 2022 triumph, Scheffler's selections for the subsequent dinner received rave reviews, prompting the golf star to contemplate a repeat performance.

Scheffler recently revealed, "I'm wondering if I should just have the same exact menu. It was pretty good. It's all my favourite foods. I don't know really what I could do differently. I think it would be kind of fun just to have the exact same food."

Despite the potential for controversy amongst peers and fans who traditionally expect a fresh menu annually, with gentle jibes often exchanged over meal choices. Scheffler's contemplation signals a playful defiance of convention that mirrors the boldness of his play.

Scheffler's menu from two years prior featured a duo of appetisers, including cheeseburger sliders served 'Scottie-style', with French fries layered atop the beef patties and beneath the burger bun, accompanied by cheese, tomato and shredded lettuce. The other starter was firecracker shrimp.

The menu then offered a tortilla soup, brimming with avocado, crispy blue tortilla strips, cilantro, lime and sour cream. This was followed by a choice of main course - either Texas ribeye steak or blackened redfish - both complemented by macaroni and cheese, seasoned fries, greens and jalapeno creamed corn.

The dessert was a warm chocolate chip skillet cookie, topped off with cookies and cream ice cream.

While the golfers present reportedly enjoyed the meal, serving the exact same fare as two years ago is bound to raise some eyebrows.
