This Morning: Cat and Ben open show as things go 'wrong'

This Morning viewers were left underwhelmed on Wednesday when Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley introduced the show in an unconventional manner. The ITV presenters were paying homage to the 40th anniversary of The Bill by dressing up as police officers, with Cat attempting to strike a stern pose.

Ben remarked:"You're still in character, you're doing a very good job!"

They went on to discuss the numerous famous faces that had appeared on the crime drama over the years, including their own cameo roles. However, as the segment dragged on, viewers started to grow impatient.

Taking to Twitter to express their frustration, one person wrote: "#ThisMorning Please stop with the dancing/acting intro. Your viewers are not 5 year olds."

Another complained: "5 mins in and they're still talking about themselves."

Someone else pleaded:"Oh my lord, can we just get on with the show?

While another viewer sarcastically tweeted: "It's all about me!"

During their conversation, Ben revealed his appearances in the popular sitcom Friends, a Harry Potter film and the Lego Movie alongside Kate Garraway. Cat shared her experience voicing a character on The Simpsons, which she described as amazing.

She commented: "I did a part in the Simpsons which was pretty amazing. We went to the Fox studios. All the old dressing rooms are there so like Marilyn Monroe's dressing room and all that, you can feel the history to the place."

Cat Deeley divulged that although she recorded her segment separately from others on the show, she did manage to snag the cell from the episode she featured in. She also spoke about appearing in Disney's Shake It Up alongside Zendaya Coleman a few years back, reports the Mirror.

Discussing working with the now Hollywood sensation, Cat recalled: "She was lovely then and she's lovely now."

On whether she stays in touch with Zendaya, the This Morning presenter revealed they swap texts occasionally. Yet, the show took an unexpected twist when Ben Shephard informed viewers his brother surprisingly appeared during Lorraine.

Andi Peters, while presenting the ITV competition in Singapore, happened to be sat next to a man enjoying his breakfastwho was none other than Bens brother.

Returning to them live, Ben shared: "My brother lives in Singapore, that's my brother Toby who just randomly popped up."

Ben, missing the moment earlier, admitted he found out about his brother's impromptu feature alongside Andi. He added: "I was coming into the studio so I missed this this morning. My brother had a cameo with Andi's comp."

The brothers enjoyed a light-hearted chatter, with Ben disclosing that he gave a heads-up to Ben's wife Annie about the surprise onscreen visit.
