Coronation Street and Emmerdale actor looks unrecognisable in throwback snap

Former Emmerdale and Coronation Street heartthrob Reece Dinsdale has sent fans into a nostalgic frenzy by posting a throwback picture from his early days, some 30 years ago.

The actor, 64, gained fame with his portrayal of the troubled Paul Ashdale on the popular ITV soap. His character, who joined the ranks of the fictional Yorkshire village four years prior, was notorious for the emotional and physical torment he inflicted upon his son Vinny.

Paul Ashdale's turbulent journey culminated tragically when died on his very wedding day; a twist of fate involving Jimmy King's van, a collapsing barn beam, and a dramatic explosion sealed his end.

Post-Emmerdale life hasn't kept Reece out of the spotlight as he keeps his followers updated with regular updates on social media about his day-to-day away from the small screen.

The beloved TV icon, from Normanton, recently graced social media with an image harking back to his and his wife's first holiday in Florence around 1992, reports Leeds Live.

Alongside the post, he wrote: "My wife just dug out this old photo. Our first trip together. Florence circa 1992. I was 32... half my age now. #TimeFlies."

It didn't take long for fans to flock stright to the comments section to share their reaction to the picture. One fan commented: "Always thought you were a handsome young man. As you've aged you've become a wonderful human being. Your wife is very lucky as are your children to have you as a father. Sending you all lots of love."

Another chimed in with praise: "Great photo Reece. You don't look like your 64 in your profile pic. You have hardly changed at all. You're still a handsome man. Have a good weekend."

One fan gushed: "Wow can't believe that's you! Looking great."

Another chimed in: "What a handsome young man you were, but you have gone from strength to strength, sending love, peace and blessings for another successful future, all your experience in acting and directing will bear greater fruit, I'm sure angel."

A third fan echoed the sentiment, saying: "What a handsome young man you were but you have gone from strength to strength, sending love, peace and blessings for another successful future, all your experience in acting and directing will bear greater fruit, I'm sure angel."

This comes after Reece, who also played the role of Joe McIntyre on Coronation Street, unveiled his remarkable body transformation following a weight loss journey during lockdown.

He credited his slimmed-down physique to ditching crisps for ten weeks, revealing to fans at the time: "Amazing what ten weeks' rest and recuperation (and far fewer crisps) can do for you."

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
