Antiques Road Trip saw BBC experts Paul Laidlaw and Margie Cooper travel to Leicester as they attempted to find some new trinkets to sell.

The pair certainly did well, as they managed to make a profit on nearly every item, leading Paul to ask if he could abandon the show, as he said: “Let’s throw the profits on a day’s outing.”

Host Tim Wonnacott was forced to intervene as he insisted: “No you will not, let’s get the abacus out.”

Margie managed to bag an impressive £83 in profits, but she was easily beaten by Paul, who achieve a whopping £191 from the day, one of the biggest earnings ever seen on the show.

It seemed that luck was on Paul’s side as throughout the week, Paul managed to make plenty of money while Margie struggle, but Paul eventually admitted that he did attempt to sabotage her.

Her £40 item began bidding at a meagre £30 and didn’t manage to go any higher, leaving her with a £10 deficit.

Sticking the knife in, Paul asked: “Margie, what happened there?”

Tim Wonnacott also chimed in: “Such a pity eh? But plenty more to go, Margie.”

Paul went on to joke: “I mean, in fairness I did start a rumour around the room that it was made of plastic. But I thought they’d see the humour in it!”

A devastated Margie put her head in her hands and sighed as she struggled to admit defeat.
