Strictly: Tasha has emotional moment after performance

Tasha Ghouri, a popular contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, appeared to be holding back tears after she and her dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec progressed to the next round.

The pair were overjoyed tonight when they discovered they had received enough votes from the public to remain in the BBC contest.

Their delight comes after a successful Saturday night performance that saw them leading the scoreboard with their lively Charleston to Anne-Marie's cover of Unhealthy by Shania Twain, reports the Mirror.

When Claudia Winkleman asked about her family, Love Island graduate Tasha warned her fellow stars that she was "going to get emotional again".

Claudia responded: "Tasha, on Saturday night it was an emotional night for you.... When you got those scores and I was looking at your face, I almost went. Tell me what it meant to you."

An evidently moved Tasha answered: "I think it's because my Mum and Nan are in the audience. Especially my Nan... She's like my best friend and I'm going to get emotional again."

Her voice wavered as she added: "I just went out there and had the best time but having Nan and Mum there was special. And it was their first time coming, so it really was a special moment."

Aljaz then revealed the dance they would be performing next week, exciting fans by announcing: "We're going to be doing a Tango to [The Dogs Day Are Over by Florence and the Machine]."

Last night saw Tasha and Aljaz soar to the top of the leaderboard, while Dr Punam Krishnan and Gorka Marquez's Jive left them trailing at the bottom with a mere 20 points.

Tasha has quickly become one of the favourites to reach this year's Strictly final, her exceptional dance skills and charming personality winning over both judges and viewers alike.

Twitter was abuzz with anticipation for Tasha and Aljaz's next performance.

One user exclaimed: "Tasha's routine next week is about to be UNBELIEVABLE." (sic)
