Cesc Fabregas has shared his verdict on the ongoing Bukayo Saka vs Cole Palmer debate after blasting the 'danger of social media'.

Fabregas was responding to a post on X that attributed a fake quote to the ex-Spain international, which claimed he said Palmer wouldn't get into any of the top teams across Europe.

Unhappy with the suggestion he'd said this, Fabregas commented from his own account by saying: "The danger of social media is people really believe anything they read.

It comes amid an ongoing debate surrounding the young English talents, something Fabregas is completely unnecessary.

Fabregas continued: "No need to compare players, England are lucky to have 2 amazing talents, just enjoy them! #Fake!"

The former midfielder knows a thing or two about top players, having starred in the all-conquering Spain side along with the likes of Andreas Iniesta, Xavi and Sergio Busquets.

Fabregas also spent a trophy-laden three-year stint at Barcelona, where he won a total of six major honours, as well as rubbing shoulders with eight-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi.

But Fabregas' show of faith might not quell concerns that had been starting to build around the compatibility of the several young stars at England's disposal.

Saka and Palmer are just two starlets in the equation, with the Three Lions also laying a claim to Phil Foden, Anthony Gordon and Noni Madueke - all of which are aged 24 years old or younger.

It was something Roy Keane highlighted during England's mid-week defeat to Greece, suggesting there had been too much onus on giving the forward options 'freedom', while not focusing enough on the 'basics'.

Commenting on ITV's coverage of the game, Keane said: “You got back to the basics. Freedom is the new buzzword.

"You still have to do the basics properly: you need to defend properly and have that urgency. They get urgency when they go 1-0 down. And the basics of wanting to defend and having a little bit of pride weren’t there.”

The danger of social media is people really believe anything they read.
