Pete Wicks 'could win' Strictly Come Dancing 2024 despite crushing blow before live show

Strictly: Pete Wicks nearly trips Jowita up

Pete Wicks could be a surprise contender for the Strictly Come Dancing 2024 final, according to body language and behavioural expert Darren Stanton.

Last weekend, Pete dazzled audiences with his George of the Jungle-inspired Samba during the BBC show's Movie Week, earning his highest score yet at 26 out of 40.

"Despite this, bookies have pegged Pete and his dance partner Jowita Przystal as potential candidates for elimination.

Nevertheless, Darren Stanton, speaking on behalf of Betfair Slots, has expressed optimism about Pete's prospects, stating: "Pete Wicks has a very good chance at making the final already.

"He's definitely shown he's capable of anything, and at this stage, that's very promising."

Stanton further commented on the strong partnership between Pete and Jowita, saying, "He could potentially win. He and Jowita have a very strong connection and you can see that from the way they communicate is effortless through physical touches, eye contact and general synchronisation."

While Pete and Jowita might just sashay into the final, Stanton also mentioned that EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick and his partner Michelle Tsiakkas might face elimination this weekend, reports Birmingham Live.

He further commented: "I believe Jamie and Michelle will be in trouble this week. While they seem strong as a pairing in terms of their level of rapport, which continues to build, the judges will be less and less forgiving of small technical faults."

"We are seeing the judges become more critical and picky when it comes to their routines. Jamie's levels of confidence are slipping. I'm not seeing what it takes to get through to the latter point of the competition, they're not quite as well-connected as some of the other couples higher up the leaderboard."
