BBC Breakfast: Carol details tech issues with BBC Weather app

BBC Breakfast viewers were left distracted during Thursday's show as an interview took an awkward turn.

During the programme, Naga Munchetty spoke to Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds regarding the government's new plans for employment rights.

Speaking to him live from Chester-Le-Street, Naga wanted to ask the MP to clarify more on some of the proposals.

However, while speaking to him it was clear Jonathan was having some issues as his earpiece continuously fell out.

Realising the issue, Naga asked: Jonathan, can you hear me? I'm just concerned your earpiece may have fallen out, is it all fine?"

With the MP clearly unable to hear what was being relayed to him, one of the BBC production crew had to step in.

Naga added: "We're just going to get the technical group. This is what our brilliant people who you never see on camera do. We're just getting the earpiece sorted for Jonathan Reynolds, we'll try again."

Apologising for the mishap, the BBC presenter reiterated it was fine before continuing with the interview.

However, as he started to answer Naga's question regarding the employment rights bill, it was evident the earpiece was still causing him issues.

He tried to fix it himself while speaking to the BBC star, and she applauded him for trying to carry on.

She said: "Well done with the earpiece! Thank you very much."

When the interview wrapped up, Naga and Charlie Stayt couldn't help but poke fun at the situation.

Handing over to weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, Charlie asked: "Carol, you got your earpiece all sorted out? No problems there? Got it under control?"

Laughing, she replied: "It's all under control I'm glad to say, Charlie."

It wasn't long before people watching took to Twitter to touch on the blunder, with many saying the same thing.

One person said: "Just hold it to your ear, dear lord."

Another commented: "This interview is going swimmingly."

Someone else wrote: "He couldn't pick that earpiece up and put it in himself??"

Another joked: "He's learning to multi-task live on air... talk and push his earpiece in.. well done you."
