Sweetpea: Official trailer

Sky's latest dark comedy, Sweetpea, stars the upcoming British actress Ella Purnell, alongside a BAFTA-winning cast. In this dark comedy drama, Purnell plays Rhiannon who has faced her fair share of trauma across her life.

She grows frustrated at being ignored by her family, work colleagues and envious of the success her school bully has achieved. But a series of personal tragedies spark a violent urge in Rhiannon that rocks the sleepy town of Carnsham.

Based on the 2017 novel by C.J. Skuse, the new series has a cast from across British TV including Doctor Who, Slow Horses and Rings of Power. This is who appears in the new dark comedy and where you recognise actors from.

Ella Purnell plays Rhiannon

Ella Purnell plays undermined Rhiannon who is tired of being ignored by people and violently flips on a difficult day. Rhiannon learns she has a taste for murder and people start taking notice of her.

Speaking about her character, Ella said: "Rhiannon believes that there are good people and there are bad people, and that the bad people deserve to die. This black-and-white way of thinking is a trauma response she subconsciously adopted at a young age in order to process what happened to her and help her navigate the world.

"That’s so clearly shown in every character. Even AJ, the nicest guy, has his flaws too!"

Ella Purnell is widely known for playing Lucy MacLean in the Prime Video series Fallout, as well as Jackie Taylor in Yellowjackets and Jinx in Arcane.
