Nintendo Games That Alarmo Needs, Starting With Star Fox 64

Wake Up

Alarmo is not Switch 2, but it is a new Nintendo device available now to Nintendo Switch Online members (coming to other retailers in early 2025). The interactive alarm clock utilizes popular Switch games to help people wake up in the morning--as well as fall asleep at night.

So far, Nintendo has announced Alarmo will come with scenes for five games: Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Ring Fit, Pikmin 4, and Splatoon 3. Additionally, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are set to come as downloadable options in the near-future for people who connect their Nintendo Switch Online accounts to the device.

But there are so many awesome (and hilarious) possibilities outside of those seven that Nintendo needs to consider for Alarmo. Star Fox 64 jumps out, for starters, since Falco sarcastically ribbing you for being lazy would be amazing. Then, of course, any game from the Pokemon series would be welcomed, though it's a wonder if that will happen when Pokemon Sleep exists. That experience actually just got smartwatch functionality last month.

So this list will leave out Pokemon, along with other entries in franchises already represented at launch for Alarmo. It'd be rather easy to just write down almost every game in The Legend of Zelda, but that's not very fun.

With all that in mind, below are the games and franchises we believe Nintendo should look at bringing to Alarmo in the future.

Star Fox 64

Imagine Peppy O'Hare telling you to "do a barrel roll" as a wakeup call. Or Falco mockingly saying, "I guess I should be thankful," when you finally get out of bed. Sure, that could be annoying, but it'd also be pretty darn funny.

Donkey Kong Country Returns and Tropical Freeze

Two of the best soundtracks from Nintendo over the past decade deserve to come to Alarmo. Specifically, "Aquatic Ambience" should be on that device. It's not only relaxing enough to fall asleep to, but it's also a pleasant morning song.

Xenoblade Chronicles series

"Now it's Reyn time." Come on, who wouldn't laugh at that when the sun rises? Of course, "Guar Plain" is a fantastic song to add pep to your step in the AM. The whole franchise, in fact, features wonderful music to serve as different scenes on Alarmo.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Okay, this is sort of a cheat code since the fighting game incorporates soundtracks from a plethora of Nintendo--and third-party--franchises. But, as GameSpot freelancer Jason Fanelli smartly pointed out, the Smash Bros. scene for Alarmo should have the game's announcer yelling, "Game!" when you finally get up.

Metroid Prime

This one might seem odd, but the GameCube classic and Switch remaster features the amazing "Phendrana Drifts." It's hard to think of a better track to start your morning during the winter.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe

Now, if Nintendo is only going to stick to Switch titles for Alarmo for the time-being, the pink puffball deserves to get in on the snooze fest. Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe offers a lot of classic tracks, such as "Green Greens," to get going.

EarthBound

Just seeing Ness and crew on the Alarmo screen would tickle Nintendo fans. But the RPG has quite a soundtrack too, with a lot of love given to "Paula's Theme."

Wii Shop Music

Wait, this isn't a game, and that's true. But the Wii Shop music just makes you want to shimmy, and that has to be one of the best ways to get covers off.
