Strictly Come Dancing has unveiled a significant shake-up for this year's series as the contest heats up.

The beloved BBC One dance show made its comeback last month, celebrating its 20th anniversary. The pre-recorded launch show set the stage, introducing this year's celebrities to their professional dance partners and featuring an "empowering" performance in honour of Amy Dowden's return following her battle with breast cancer.

Since then, the 2024 season has been in full swing, with the original 15 couples now whittled down to 13 after the second elimination during the first themed episode of the series - Movie Week.

And in terms of themed specials, as exclusively revealed on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two on Wednesday evening (October 9), to mark two decades of dazzling dances, 'Icons Week' has been announced.

Set to make its debut next month, 'Icons Week' will see the remaining couples grace the dance floor to pay homage to music legends. On Saturday, November 2, the stars of Strictly will perform routines inspired by some of the most iconic figures in the music world, reports the Manchester Evening News.

This new theme week is slated to become a recurring feature in future series, celebrating musical icons from various eras. The couples are set to dazzle as they dance to tracks from their most-adored music legends, with some stars even expected to channel their inner icons!

The specific icons, dances, and tunes will be unveiled in the near future.

Other themed weeks on Strictly, following the recent Movie Week, include the much-anticipated Blackpool week, where the show relocates to the legendary Blackpool Tower ballroom for a one-off spectacle, and Musicals week.

Additionally, marking the premiere of 'Icons Week' during Sunday's results show on November 3, Strictly's gifted professional dancers will deliver an electrifying Beyonce medley. Johannes Radebe is set to steal the spotlight, embodying Sasha Fierce as the lead in the performance, with audiences advised to anticipate "bejewelled cowboy hats, power ballad moves and sparkling sass".
