Outlander's Sam Heughan teases promotional trip to San Francisco

Outlander heartthrob Sam Heughan couldn't hide his delight as his latest television escapade snagged a nomination for the coveted TV Choice Award.

The Scottish actor set hearts racing last year with his role in Channel 4's tantalising and suspense-filled series The Couple Next Door, which is slated to hit screens in the US on Starz shortly.

In the show, Sam brings to life Danny Whitwell, a traffic cop entangled in neighbourhood drama alongside Jessica De Gouw as Becka Whitwell, the residents next to Evie Greenwood (played by Eleanor Tomlinson) and her partner Pete Thomas (Alfred Enoch).

Their worlds collide in an intricately woven tale of lust and dark turns as the quartet becomes increasingly involved in each other's lives following a steamy encounter.

Taking to Instagram to celebrate with his staggering 4.3 million fans, Sam posted: "Excited to share that the Couple Next Door Season 1 has been longlisted for Best New Drama Series for the TV Choice Awards 2025!"

He went on urging his legion of admirers to cast their vote for the gripping drama: "Every vote counts, so I'd love for you to go to Tvchoicemagazine.co.uk/vote and support the show!"

Although widely acclaimed for his portrayal of Jamie Fraser in Outlander, Sam's faithful fanbase expressed their enthusiasm to witness his talents shine through in other roles.

One enthusiast responded: "Awesome!! Congratulations I LOVED IT!!!! I was able to watch it on VPN when it first aired...You've got my vote, ALWAYS."

Unfortunately, there's also some burgeoning discontent across the pond as The Couple Next Door's American debut is still up in the air.

Stateside fans are clamouring, with remarks such as "When does it air in the USA!!!?????" and accolades mingled with anticipation: "Congratulations! Still waiting for it to come to Starz in US!"

Starz has yet to calendar The Couple Next Door's stateside premiere, though whispers suggest a release before the end of this year.

And, as of now, the ink hasn't dried on plans for a sophomore season, but the tides could turn if the American release is successful.

The Couple Next Door is available to stream on Channel 4.

Outlander season seven part two premieres on Friday, November 22, on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK and on Starz in the US.
