Strictly's Pete Wicks admits he 'didn't think he'd make it' as he addresses 'exit'

It Takes Two: Pete Wicks didn't think he'd make it through to next week

Pete Wicks, best known for starring in TOWIE, has expressed his shock at being saved by viewers on Strictly Come Dancing twice in a row.

The reality star, 36, is giving it his all in the current run of the BBC's hit dance competition, twirling around the floor with professional partner Jowita Przystal. Despite not topping the leaderboard, the pair have managed to dodge the dreaded dance-off in both the second and third weeks, courtesy of public support.

The reality TV personality shared his disbelief over the public's decision to see him through after the first vote. During a chat on the popular companion show It Takes Two, Pete got a candid glimpse at how he and Jowita compared to other contestants in terms of rankings.

Fleur East, hosting It Takes Two, noted their not-so-stellar scores, prompting Pete to confess: "When you're at the bottom it obviously doesn't look great. But you never know what the public are going to do."

He continued to discuss the unpredictability of the show, saying: "And I think regardless of what the judges' scores are, you never know what the public are thinking.

"And I think everyone, regardless of where you are in the competition, is nervous about leaving. And certainly I was, I didn't necessarily think I'd make it through last week, I'll be honest with you."

In their latest stint on the dance floor during Movies Week, Pete and Jowita racked up 26 points for their samba inspired by the George of the Jungle theme tune, successfully securing a spot in week four, reports Devon Live.

The dynamic duo has sparked quite the buzz with their undeniable chemistry on and off the dance floor, fuelling whispers of a budding romance.

Pete and Jowita seem inseparable after teaming up on the show, openly declaring they'll ink their bond with matching tattoos should they waltz away with the Glitterball trophy in the December finale.

During their conversation with the hosts of Loose Women, Pete and Jowita shared their bold commitment to commemorate a potential victory with matching tattoos.

In an amusing segment on ITV's Loose Women, Janet Street-Porter probed the dancing pair, asking: "Is it true that you two are going to get matching tattoos if you win?"

Pete then confessed with a smile: "Obviously, I have got a fair few tattoos so if we win then we are going to get a couple of glitterballs."

Strictly Come Dancing returns this Saturday at 6.20pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
