Jane McDonald's co-star admits 'she's my love interest' as he gushes over singer

Lorraine and Julian Clary chat about Jane McDonald

Jane McDonald's co-star Julian Clary couldn't contain his admiration for the cruising legend, affectionately referring to her as "my love interest".

The pair are set to light up the stage in the London Palladium's festive pantomime of Robin Hood this winter. Alongside them will be the talents of ex-Coronation Street actor Nigel Havers, West End sensation Rob Madge, and American actress Marisha Wallace.

Lorraine Kelly, hosting her eponymous ITV show, spoke with Julian about his return to the Palladium, a venue he knows well: "[The Palladium] is kind of your second home, especially around Christmastime."

Discussing his collaboration with Jane, Lorraine mentioned: "You'll be back there, because lovely Jane McDonald was on the show last week and she was talking about working with you, very much looking forward to it."

Julian expressed his enthusiasm for working with Jane, confessing: "I'm obsessed with her book as well. I've been reading Jane's book and listening to her music. She's my love interest," reports the Mirror.

Lorraine added her own fondness for Jane: "I'm obsessed with her, never mind her book! You two are going to be pals for life. You'll just get one another. That must be one of your highlights of the year, the panto? ".

Julian agreed, excited to take on the lead role in the upcoming production, with Jane starring as Maid Marion.

This news follows Lorraine revealing that she's now sharing her home with someone after the sad passing of her partner Eddie Rothe. Jane has moved in with her friend Sue Ravey, who also serves as Jane's PA.

On Lorraine, Jane disclosed: "It's the best thing ever. She's a great cook, she does my hair and make-up. She puts the bins out! You know, what more could I want? And she's absolutely hilarious."

Sue waved to Lorraine and Jane from backstage, prompting Lorraine to remark: "How lovely to have that, because despite your successes and all the amazing things you do, you don't want to go back to an empty house."

Jane concurred: "No you don't. Speaking of the house, it's too big. We have this huge house that all we do is clean, and my nails can't take it, Lorraine! So I think we're going to downsize now, we're looking forward to that."
