Liverpool have been dealt a huge injury blow with keeper Alisson Becker set to be out "for a long while" after limping off in his side's win at Crystal Palace. Arne Slot's side went four points clear at the top of the Premier League with a 1-0 win at Selhurst Park, courtesy of Diogo Jota's 9th minute goal.

But the win was soured by yet another injury to their Brazilian No.1.

With just 11 minutes left, Alisson went to ground and was seen clutching his hamstring before being replaced by Vítezslav Jaros.

And speaking on TNT Sports, Peter Crouch said he feared the worst for the 32-year-old. "You could see that he knew straight aways," said the ex-Reds striker..

"When a player reacts like that straight away you know it is a bad one. I'm really concerned for him. Alisson looks distraught in front of us here. That's the one bad thing about today for Liverpool, losing Alisson. Because that could be a long while now."

Away manger Arne Slot spoke after Crouch, and insisted he had no qualms about throwing on Jaros for his Liverpool debut. "We trust him a lot and he wanted to go on," he said.

Sky has slashed the price of its Sky Sports, Sky Stream, Sky TV and Netflix bundle in an unbeatable new deal that saves £216 and includes 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

With Ultra HD included at no extra cost, football fans can enjoy the 2024/25 season with crystal clear picture quality.

"He wanted playing time again. He won the league and the cup where he was in Austria last season (with Sturm Graz) so we trust him a lot and he wanted to go.

"I think today proved that we were right to give him a chance. And I think it was a really nice moment for him to come on and see the game out as well."

Slot also refused to dwell on the potential blow to Alisson, choosing instead to focus on his team's performance. "There was a period in the second half where we conceded a number of needless free-kicks and throw-ins." he said.

"But in general, is the last 10 minutes, we kept the ball really well. You need to score a second sometimes to break them mentally but although we were the dominant tram, we only won 1-0."

It's now nine wins from 10 matches in all competitions for Slot, a record for a Liverpool manager over their first 10 games in charge. Palace meanwhile, are still without a win in this top flight campaign.
