Nightmare neighbour who drove car at a toddler in row over chickens is locked up

A nightmare neighbour who tried to mow down a retired joiner and a three-year-old in a row over chickens has been jailed.

Debbie Ross, 61, drove her car at retiree, John Everett, and the toddler after getting into a fight on the Dall Estate in Kinloch Rannoch, Perthshire, a court heard.

She drove the car at him several times forcing him to jump out of the way.

The argument started when Ross moved onto the estate and complained that she did not want to look after chickens that were left in her houseby a previous tenant.

Former joiner, Mr Everett said: ‘I saw her coming down the lane. I said, “here’s that nutter coming, what’s she going to do this time?”

‘She swerved towards me, then swerved back out again and carried on.’

John was left raging when Ross drove her car at him again, this time as he was walking with a three-year-old toddler.

Mr Everett was able to swerve out of the way of the vehicle on both occasions.

‘I blew my stack,’ he said.

‘I told her I was going to murder her.’

Ross was remanded into custody yesterday after she was found guilty of harassing Mr Everett.

Sheriff Jennifer Bain, KC, said: ‘The evidence heard that you perpetrated a course of abusive behaviour towards the complainer by driving your car and accelerating towards him and, on one occasion, at a three-year-old.
