Liverpool's strong start to the season continued with a 2-0 home win over Bologna in the Champions League.

Arne Slot's side made it two wins from two in Europe, thanks to an early strike from Alexis Mac Allister and a stunning late goal from Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian curled home from outside the area to set another Anfield record, the first Liverpool player to score in five consecutive home European fixtures.

Despite dominating possession for much of the night, the Reds did have to survive scares as Dan Ndoye's snapshot hit the post and Allison Becker saved smartly from Kacper Urbanski.

Liverpool player ratings vs Bologna

Alisson Becker - 8/10

When the Brazilian was called upon his interventions were crucial, brilliantly palming away Kacper Urbanski's close-range shot in the first half and keeping out Riccardo Orsolini's angled effort after the break.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - 6/10

Thrived early on as Liverpool poured forward and helped create Salah's goal, but also guilty of coughing up possesion and was caught badly out of position for a second-half counter-attack from the visitors.

Ibrahima Konate - 6/10

One great close-range block in the first half and also pressed up the field in the early stages, but picked up a soft booking and his passing from the back still lacks accuracy.

Virgil van Dijk - 7/10

Another to receive a dubious yellow but as reliable as ever.

Andy Robertson - 6/10

A steady night's work before being hauled off late on, seemingly as a precaution.

Ryan Gravenberch - 8/10

His stock continues to grow in red, regularly surging down the middle of the park and a threat going forward. Work rate superb.

Alexis Mac Allister - 8/10

A strong start, starting and finishing the move that set Liverpool on their way. Faded after the break.

Dominik Szoboszlai - 6/10

At the heart of much of Liverpool's play, but side-footed wide when clean through in the first half and one poor headed clearance nearly proved costly. A mixed night.

Mohamed Salah - 9/10

His sublime cross teed-up Mac Allister for the opener and his own late strike stole the show. A constant threat.

Luis Diaz - 6/10

Looked determined to get involved in attack but on two occasions, his final touch let him down and was taken off after 72 minutes.

Darwin Nunez - 5/10

A frustrating night. Had a goal ruled out for offside, blasted wildly over from one good chance and taken off after an hour for Diogo Jota.

Substitutes:

Konstantinos Tsimikas - 6/10

Little to do after coming on but made one surging run forward.

Conor Bradley - 6/10

Came on late to help see things out.

Cody Gakpo - 6/10

Looked keen to be involved but no real opportunity to strike.

Curtis Jones - 6/10

Another who entered the fray as the game petered out. Some nice touches.

Diogo Jota - 7/10

Instantly looked a threat and linked-up well with Salah in the last half hour.
