Malbon Golf Hires Ex-Nike Executive as First CEO

After a year of growth highlighted by sponsorships of tour professionals Jason Day and Charley Hull and collaborations with the likes of Jimmy Choo and Lexus, Malbon Golf has announced another key step in its trajectory. Aaron Heiser, a former Nike executive with a wealth of experience in the fashion industry, has been brought on to be the brand's first CEO. Heiser will work closely alongside founders of the company Stephen and Erica Malbon, who will continue to serve as Malbon's as co-chief creative officers and board members.

Erica Malbon, whose past entrepreneurial experience lies in the beauty industry, told WWD that “We did a year’s worth of interviewing before we decided on Aaron. Steven and I started the brand in 2017 with a lot of passion, but not a lot of expertise in fashion and apparel.” It was just over a year ago that Malbon launched its first line of clothing for women, and Heiser will look to ensure the brand continues to tap into diverse audiences while scaling the business for longterm growth.

Heiser for his part said that “Malbon truly has become a global community that bridges diverse backgrounds, celebrates individuality and fosters camaraderie both on and off the golf course. To say it is absolutely on fire as a brand would be an understatement, and I look forward to working with the entire team to supercharge that momentum and achieve the next phase of growth and development.” The fashion executive spent 18 years at Nike most notably as global vice president of apparel, accessories and licensing. Earlier on he worked at Armani Exchange, Tommy Hilfiger and Gap Inc.

It will be fascinating to see whether any new hirings or partnerships are announced in Q4, as was the case last year for Malbon.
