Bargain Hunt viewers left raging at 'fixed' episode as BBC star 'takes over show'

Bargain Hunt team member reveals Antiques Roadshow link

Bargain Hunt host and veteran Christina Trevanion took to her X page last week, reposting the news from the BBC show's official account ahead of hosting the special episode on Monday.

'It would be a crime to miss this show with @CTrevanion to mark the 4️0th anniversary of @BBCCrimewatch. On the case are 2️ crime-fighting teams: @RavWilding and @MichAckerley versus @jacquihames and David Hatcher. From Monday on @BBCOne and @BBCiPlayer,' the post read.

For the crossover instalment the British auctioneer, 43, teamed up with Crimewatch UK hosts Rav Wilding and Michelle Ackerley.

The duo went head to head with former Crimewatch presenters and police officers Jacqui Hames and David Hatcher, with both teams taking on two crime-related challenges.

However Bargain Hunt fans were left fuming and didn't seem impressed to see the Crimewatch veterans on-screen. Taking to X - formerly Twitter, they were left raging.

One said: "This is a bl***y fix, isn't it? #BargainHunt"

"Rav is an expert in just about everything. Or thinks he is.#BargainHunt," said another. A third commented: "Whats with all the police cr**... We know you're from Crime Watch. #bargainhunt."

"Crimewatch isn't even on TV now, is it? #bargainhunt," remarked a fourth.

A fifth added: "Two ex-policemen patrolling that market. I'm shocked that most of those traders haven't packed up and relocated to another market #bargainhunt';

While another said: #bargainhunt I detest these so-called celebrity versions of shows like Bargain Hunt."

The two teams battled it all out at a huge antiques fair at Ardingly in West Sussex for a gruelling 60-minute challenge.

The red team initially tried on some antique handcuffs, but Rav got Michelle in a panic when he dropped the key.

Meanwhile, the blue team found an old collection of truncheons, which brought back memories of their days on the beat.

Presenter Christina admired a collection of historic policing items, from fascinating fingerprinting apparatus to mid-19th-century mugshots, which were a courtesy of West Midlands Police Museum.

Speaking about the show's impressive milestone, Michelle said: 'It really is quite something to be marking 40 years of Crimewatch.

'To think back on the list of presenters that have come before me on this show is really humbling but most importantly to see what an impact the show has had over the years - working alongside the emergency services - really is incredible. I hope it continues for another 40!'
