Dannii Minogue emotional as she shares heartbreak over sister Kylie's cancer battle
Dannii Minogue was moved to tears while discussing her sister Kylie's battle with cancer.
In an emotional exchange with ABC's Take 5 host Zan Rowe, the younger Minogue sibling shed light on the resilience and determination of the Love At First Sight singer following her breast cancer diagnosis in May 2005.
Kylie, who underwent a lumpectomy and commenced chemotherapy treatment shortly afterwards, defied the odds when there was "no recurrence" of the disease post-operation.
Kylie made a courageous reappearance only two months after her surgery by visiting young patients in the cancer ward of Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital.
She subsequently continued her chemotherapy treatment in France, with her publicist confirming the end of this stage of her treatment in January 2006.
Reflecting with Zan on that challenging time, Dannii said: "My sister got sick with breast cancer and she was in the middle of a tour."
Overcome with emotion, she recalled: "I remember her getting carried off stage and stuff. When I would go and visit her when she was having chemo and was very, very unwell. I would just jump around to music with her.", reports the Mirror.

Dannii reflected, encapsulating the spirit that sustained them through Kylie's health crisis. Discussing Kylie's triumphant return to the stage post-chemotherapy, she recounted: "She said, 'Will you jump on stage with me? '... And the joy when we came out on stage from the audience was unbelievable. You could hear the roar."
The sisters felt an overwhelming wave of support from their fans throughout the ordeal.

Dannii also shared the heart-wrenching story of her close friend Laura, who fought cancer but tragically passed away. She recalled, "She was staying with me and said she had a pain in her back an hour later she was in the foetal position. She went into hospital and she never came out again. It was very hard to see her go through this."
The star opened up about how the experience of having two loved ones battle cancer marked a particularly dark period in her life, and it was the support from her sister Kylie that helped her get through these tough times.
Kylie herself spoke candidly about her own cancer journey during a 2014 interview on 60 Minutes, where she learned the importance of putting oneself first. She explained, "Someone had said to me at the time, 'You need to be a little bit selfish.' It's not in my nature to be selfish but now is the time to do that. Let people take care of you. And... that's what I did."
