Apple Taps Artists Prince Gyasi, Ryan McGinley and Chen Man to Showcase the iPhone 16's Camera
Apple launched its latest iPhone 16 series earlier this month and whilst, on first glance, it may not seem like much has changed on the outside compared to previous, recent generations of the device, the Cupertino-based brand is putting a lot of stock into what's on the inside – or, to be more specific, the device's cameras.
To celebrate its flagship iPhone 16 Pro Max model, Apple enlisted Kathy Ryan to curate a trio of artists whose talents would help to best showcase the capabilities of its latest device's camera. The result, 'Chasing the Light', is a multi-city exhibition featuring the works of Prince Gyasi, Ryan McGinley and Chen Man that took placed in New York, London, and Shanghai last week. For Ryan, the exhibition also marked a public return to work after retiring earlier this year having served a 39-year stint of her much-lauded career at The New York Times (with 37 of those spent as the title's director of photography).
As the exhibition's title suggests, 'Chasing the Light' is a collection of still and moving imagery that sees the artists' work come together through a mutual exploration of sunlight, shadow and color. All of the work featured in the exhibition was shot on an iPhone and – according to Apple – was not post-processed in any way. In other words, the content seen in the exhibition is the work of the artist straight out of camera.
You can check out the artists' work now in the gallery above.
