Phillip Schofield Cast Away LIVE: Star under fire as TV appearance turns emotional

Phillip Schofield faces struggle in Cast Away Channel 5 teaser

Phillip Schofield bowed out of TV in 2023 after a reported feud between him and his co-star Holly Willoughby.

He left ITV's This Morning, but vowed to be back for other projects with ITV, though things soon took a turn when he admitted to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger male co-star.

Now, 18 months on, Phil has decided to tell his story while he's stranded on an island for 10 days with limited resources.

He told his Instagram followers last week: "Now you know how I spent my Summer! Alone for 10 days, no food, no water, no crew. My story of survival, both on a desert island and off it."

In the trailer he's addressed a few of the struggles he's faced, vowing to tell his side of the story.

In the series, Phil opens up on how the experience blew away all his happy memories from working at ITV.

He says: "it screwed up my favourite building in the world, and it pretty well blew away all those happy memories, and suddenly the place became hostile to me, and that was heartbreaking.

"And the people who did it to me, know, they know how important that building was to me. They know that when you throw someone under a bus, you've got to have a really bloody good reason to do it."

Schofield added: "There are only three 's***s'. One of them is a coward who never stepped up in queue gate. One of them is a coward because they never stepped up when I was being battered by one journalist....and the other one is just brand orientated."

In the new series, Phillip says: "Shamed, disgraced Phillip Schofield who had an affair. But strangely, I think another TV presenter or two might have done exactly the same thing."

"Difference is, heterosexual. It's not an unusual thing in the gay world for there to be a difference in age groups. That's not that unusual in the straight world, but if that had been the case with me and it had been a woman. Pat on the back. Well done mate."

In the trailer that was released shortly after Phillip confirmed his return to TV, he vowed to tell his side of the story.

The short clip sees him say: "I know what I did was unwise, but is it really enough to absolutely destroy someone?"

He was then seen crying in the clip before the trailer came to a close.
