Gethin Jones supports 'terrified' Dr Punam Krishan after Strictly debut

Gethin Jones says Dr Punam was 'terrified' performing on Strictly

Morning Live's Gethin Jones didn't hesitate to throw his support behind his co-star Dr Punam Krishan after her dazzling second live performance on Strictly Come Dancing. Together with colleagues Helen Skelton and Jon Kay, the television presenter was full of praise for Dr Punam on the BBC One programme, dubbing her "brilliant".

When the studio switched over to BBC Breakfast, host Jon Kay proclaimed: "We're all loving our friend Dr Punam as well, isn't she brilliant on Strictly! " This prompted Gethin to share: "She was terrified, but she did brilliantly."

Helen Skelton, who herself was a Strictly sensation coming runner-up in 2022, chimed in with accolades: "They're just a top team! We're so grateful that she's got Gorka and he's got her."

Bursting with enthusiasm, Jon Kay added: "Yeah, they're absolutely fantastic, loving it! ".

Dr Punam, age 41, a regular health guru on Morning Live, is showcasing her dance moves on this season of Strictly Come Dancing alongside Spanish dancer Gorka Marquez. The pair have certainly shone on the dance floor, particularly with their performance on Saturday, 28 September, which sparked considerable chatter among viewers, reports the Mirror.

Their foxtrot to Shania Twain's 'Man! I Feel Like A Woman!' on the latest show may have earned them dance floor commendation, but it was Gorka's edgy attire that really turned heads. Donning a black mesh shirt, PVC trousers, and dark sunglasses, Gorka made quite the statement beside Dr Punam, attired in a stylish ensemble of black dress complete with shirt and tie.

Strictly Come Dancing fans couldn't help but notice Gorka Marquez's bold outfit, which consisted of black PVC trousers and a mesh top, a clear nod to Shania Twain's iconic music video.

Viewers took to Twitter, now X, to share their thoughts, with one fan excitedly writing: "Gorka in a kilt and pvc trousers".

Another fan joked: "Gorka will find any excuse to wear latex and see through shirts and I love that for him (and us)", while a third fan admitted: "There was a dance...? ! ...my eyes were firmly on @gorkamarquez1".

Meanwhile, Dr Punam Krishan is competing against other celebrities, including Tasha Ghouri, Chris McCausland, Pete Wicks, Jamie Borthwick, Nick Knowles, and Sam Quek. In the previous episode, Olympic champion Tom Dean was eliminated from the show, along with his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova, after losing to Toyah Wilcox and Neil Jones in the dance-off.

Despite receiving positive feedback for his first two performances, Tom and Nadiya were unable to impress the judges enough to stay in the competition.
