The city’s industrial sector faced challenges in 2023, with the number of establishments in related activities, including Electricity, Gas & Water Supply and Manufacturing, dropping to 861—a decrease of 30 from the previous year. However, total employment in these sectors increased by 306, reaching 10,925. The sector’s financial performance improved, with receipts rising 15% to MOP12.11 billion and expenditures increasing by 6.6% to MOP8.25 billion. Gross surplus surged by 38.5% to MOP3.86 billion, while gross value added rose 23.1% to MOP5.97 billion. In the Electricity, Gas & Water Supply sector, the number of establishments remained stable at five, although employment fell by 13 to 1,082.
