Jeremy Vine tears apart Jeffrey Archer as Labour freebie row turns heated: 'Useless'

Keir Starmer and members of his party have been branded "useless freeloaders" in the latest installment of the row, with emotions running high on the Jeremy Vine Show.

Jeremy Vine was quick to shut down Jeffrey Archer on the topic as he predicted Labour will still be running the country in four years time following the last election. The Channel 5 star said he "couldn't believe" his prediction, before telling off Archer for mistakenly calling a furious caller Nicky instead of Sharon.

The caller took offence to the comment made by Archer about Labour, and exploded. "They're a bunch of freeloaders, they're useless, and they're going to ruin this country," she stormed.

She delivered her argument in no uncertain terms. "I'm going to quote what Jeffrey said about them being here in four years - no, Jeffrey, they will not be here in four years," she insisted.

"Listen, Wes Streeting only just won his seat - so when the tide goes out even a little, he's got a problem," Jeremy replied. "Also, I can't believe you just predicted the next election, Jeffrey!"

Jeffrey said they will be here in four years time - no, they will not! You can't speak for the public," Sharon continued.

There's a lot of the public that are not happy with them so no, they will not be in four years."

"Well, Sharon, how does that work when you've got a majority of 150?" Jeffrey quizzed, only for Jeremy to fire back with: "Have you heard about democracy?"

The caller reasoned that the Tory party had behaved badly and cost themselves the election, but she could "guarantee" that voting Labour was not a mistake that would be made a second time.

Jeremy chimed in: "These days, a lot of these governments are built on sand - we're not tribal like we were!"

The latest controversies have been focused on Keir Starmer's use of a £20 million penthouse apartment his son stayed in to avoid disruption from doorsteppers while studying for his GCSEs.

It was provided by Labour donor Lord Waheed Alli, while he had also received over £20,000 in donations for clothing and a new pair of glasses.

Starmer said he would no longer be accepting clothing donations but defended his decision to make use of the apartment, arguing that it "didn't cost the taxpayer a penny".

He was annihilated on the Jeremy Vine show on another occasion this week too, after mistakenly describing Israeli hostages as "sausages" as he called for their return.
