Emmerdale: Belle strikes Tom with an axe

Emmerdale viewers are speculating that Belle Dingle didn't actually assault Tom King with an axe, but rather it was another villager.

Vile Tom (James Chase) has been tormenting and manipulating his wife Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) for months. She has since confessed the truth to her family and broken up with Tom, eager to break free from his control.

Earlier this week, Belle courageously decided to report Tom's abuse to the police after finding hidden cameras in her cottage, proof that he had been surveilling her.

However, when Tom's new flame, Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell), discovered Belle's plan, she disclosed it to him. Later, in a terrifying twist, Tom let himself into the Dingle house leaving Belle frozen with fear.

Tom then assaulted Belle but it wasn't long before Belle spotted and seized a chance to flee for her life, grabbing a nearby hunting rifle, reports Leeds Live.

Regrettably, Tom quickly followed with an axe in hand. Belle sought refuge in a cottage flat but she was eventually located and, in a horrifying act, Tom hacked down the door to reach Belle.

Meanwhile, Belle's family, Sam (James Hooton), Lydia (Karen Blick) and Vinny (Bradley Johnson) were left shocked after learning Belle was with Tom, and tried to locate her.

Back in the cottage flat, an intense confrontation occurred between Belle and Tom, culminating in Tom discarding his axe and daring her to shoot him. Belle attempted to fire but was thwarted by the safety catch, something Tom corrected before menacingly pointing the gun at her.

As Belle faced potential doom, Tom savoured his impending victory, gazing admiringly at his reflection in a shattered mirror. In an unforeseen turn, he was struck from behind with his own axe which he had left carelessly on the ground.

The scene shifted to Belle, shocked and motionless, as the incident seemed to suggest she could have been the assailant. Nevertheless, some fans are convinced another villager is responsible.

Delving into theories on social media, viewers dissected the scene, highlighting that the attack was never shown, leaving room for speculation about a possible surprise attacker.

On one Emmerdale fan forum on Facebook, a follower speculated: "After watching it over and over again I don't think it was Belle."

Echoing this sentiment, another theorized it could be Vinny who delivered the blow, saying: "I didn't expect that but I don't think Bell killed him it might be Vinny."

Others chimed in with similar suspicions, one suggesting: "Hopefully Vinnie. The others wouldn't have gotten there in time." Further echoing the debate, yet another member of the forum remarked: "I don't think it was Belle...maybe Vinny." While an additional comment also supported this guess: "I think Vinnie!"
