The announcement comes shortly after Stevie Nicks announced a new single, ‘The Lighthouse’. Nicks last released music in 2022 with her cover of Buffalo Springfieldâs âFor What Itâs Worthâ. In 2020, she shared the standalone single âShow Them The Wayâ â recorded with Dave Grohl on drums and produced by Greg Kurstin. That same year, Nicks teamed up with Miley Cyrus for their âEdge Of Midnightâ mash-up. Her eighth and latest solo album, â24 Karat Gold: Songs From The Vaultâ, arrived in 2014.
Back in February, Joel opened up about why it took him nearly two decades to release his latest single, âTurn The Lights Back Onâ. Speaking with his co-writer Freddy Wexler, Joel said that he had fallen out of love with writing new music, adding that he did not find it âfunâ for the better part of two decades. Joel said to Wexler: âIt was fun. Music is fun. Rock nâ roll was fun. It was all about having fun â and I kind of lost that and I turned the lights off because it wasnât fun anymore.â
Billy Joel released âTurn The Lights Back Onâ on February 1, marking his first new release in 17 years. The track serves as a love letter to fans who have waited for the âPiano Manâ singer to release new music, as well as self-reflection for the singer, who asks himself if he had waited this long to return.
