Richard Mille Reveals an RM 17-02 Tourbillon in Titanium

Richard Mille has unveiled the RM 17-02 Tourbillon in titanium, its newest creation that amalgamates its innovative spirit with haute horlogerie prowess.

Measuring just a little over 40mm in diameter, the Maison’s emblematic tonneau tripartite case now arrives in a lightweight yet durable grade 5 titanium build. The case itself underwent a full year of rigorous R&D, a process that the brand has likened to analytical engineering methods used for Formula 1 racing cars, specifying that “the chassis and the engine are developed in complete harmony.”

Translating that in the vein of watchmaking, the housing of the RM 17-02 omits a casing ring, instead, the high-spec movement is directly mounted onto the chassis mounting rubbers that are fixed in place with titanium screws. Implemented with two Nitrile O-ring seals, the case is also ensured with 50 meters of water resistance.

Highlighted on the watch face is the watch’s namesake caliber, a manual-winding tourbillon movement that’s as visually mesmerizing as it is on a technical level. Its complex structure is in full view, showcasing its vibrant-ly finished titanium components coated in gold and blue PVD. Echoing the color scheme, the Arabic numeral hour markers also come in a golden yellow hue.
