BBC's Nina Warhurst admits Snow Patrol's new album made her cry

BBC Breakfast host Nina Warhurst admitted she was left in tears over Snow Patrol's new powerful album on Wednesday's show.

During the latest instalment, Nina, 43, and co-host Jon Kay spoke to the legendary band made up of Gary Lightbody, Johnny McDaid and Nathan Connolly.

Speaking about their new album, The Forest Is The Path, Nina said: "I'll tell you what, I put your new album on in the car this morning on the way in and I was crying by the time I arrived." The band then replied: "I'm sorry!"However, Nina was quick to clarify: "No, a happy cry! In a good way, really powerful stuff!" At the end of the interview over the album, she added: "It's perfect for a little car cry!"

Snow Patrol spoke about their new album (Image: BBC) Snow Patrol have been on quite a journey for the last 30 years. From their early years forming as a student band in Dundee, to creating hits which have become beloved across the world.

The line-up has evolved since its formation in the 1990s, but the most major change came last year when long-term band members drummer Jonny Quinn and bassist Paul Wilson announced their departure. The remaining trio of Northern Ireland-born musicians – Gary, Nathan and Johnny – were left heartbroken but wished them well and have powered on to produce their emotionally charged eighth studio album.

"On a band level, just the three of us feel stronger and more connected than we’ve ever done" Gary said recently as the band release their first record in six years. He added: "And I’m so excited to bring this album out that we’ve made, that we’re all really excited about, we’re all really proud of, and get to gigging around the world."

It comes as Snow Patrol are currently leading the UK chart race and if they can hold onto the spot, this Friday will see the band secure their first UK No.1 album in 18 years.

The Forest Is The Path is Snow Patrol's first album in six years, their last release was 2018's Wildness.

Snow Patrol first topped the UK charts back in 2006 with Eyes Open and since then have scored an impressive seven top 10 albums.
