My Mum, Your Dad: Maria reveals how her marriage ended

My Mum, Your Dad viewers have commended Maria’s bravery and Davina McCall’s hosting skills after the 51-year-old opened up about the reason her marriage ended.

The mother of 19-year-old Liv revealed they decided to end things when her husband came out as gay.

Liv found out the reason behind the split a year later, maintaining she was “never angry” at her dad but admitting to finding the adjustment difficult.

The other contestants left the discussion rather emotional after opening up to each other and hearing the details of Maria’s story.

“I didn’t feel like a wife to someone,” she shared in the touching moment. “And then it came out.

“He’s gay, and living a lie, really.”

And Davina told her: “We’re all the same. We just want a meaningful connection with someone to live out our lives with.”

Liv was rather shocked as she shared that only three of her friends knew about the secret up until this point.

However, she was thrilled to see her mother come to terms with the split, which happened when Liv was 12.

Fans have since taken to social media to praise Davina’s hosting skills and commend Maria for bravely talking through the end of her marriage.

“@ThisisDavina you’re a Fantastic Iconic presenter Davina,” one viewer said, later adding she “deserves an OBE Award”.

“Thats what they all needed,” another fan wrote. “Davina knows what she's doing!”

“#MyMumYourDad is simply one of the best shows on the box currently,” someone else gushed.

Tuesday's episode also introduced a new dad into the mix, Chris, who is sure to shake up the dynamics amongst the mums and dads.
