'Flappy Bird' Creator Confirms Non-Involvement in Game's Upcoming Reboot

Dong Nguyen, the creator of the original Flappy Bird, has clarified that he is not involved in the game's upcoming reboot from The Flappy Bird Foundation.

The developer took to X to confirm his non-involvement, simply writing, "No, I have no related with their game. I did not sell anything. I also don't support crypto." Engadget reports that Gametech Holdings LLC, the company that The Flappy Bird Foundation purchased the rights from, may have been able to acquire the Flappy Bird trademark as Nguyen's was "reportedly considered abandoned."

The Flappy Bird reboot will be available on platforms such as web browsers by the end of October, and on iOS and Android in 2025.

Nguyen pulled Flappy Bird from smartphone app stores a decade ago in the height of the game's popularity. "Flappy Bird was designed to play in a few minutes when you are relaxed. But it happened to become an addictive product. I think it has become a problem. To solve that problem, it's best to take down Flappy Bird. It's gone forever," he previously told Forbes.

No, I have no related with their game. I did not sell anything.
I also don't support crypto.
