Megan Thee Stallion Reportedly Had Agreed To Work With Mercedes Mone Prior to WWE Deal

Megan Thee Stallion is the new voice of the WWE Smackdown opening, as her song ‘Neva Play’ debuted on the show this past Friday. PWInsider reports that before that happened, Megan had agreed to work on something with AEW’s Mercedes Mone.

This past February, Megan and Mercedes met at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Japan. The two were said to be fans of one another and that led to talks between both parties. The negotiations happened through Megan’s manager Mike B of Roc Nation and Mercedes’ manager Keven Undergaro. Both sides eventually agreed to do something.

Mone actually mentioned a potential collaboration while promoting All In, and hoped to get Megan in an AEW ring. The two had also talked about working together in WWE back in 2021.

Following Mone’s interview, WWE made a deal with Megan to use her song for Smackdown. This reportedly caught Mone and her people “by surprise”. It remains to be seen if Mone and Megan Thee Stallion will still work together.
