Harry Potter Star Gary Oldman Jokes He Could Play Dumbledore In TV Show

Oscar-winning actor Gary Oldman played Sirius Black in the Harry Potter movie series. Warner Bros. is producing an ambitious-sounding TV series, and many are wondering who--if anyone--from the original cast could come back. Oldman said in an interview that he loves the character but believes the producers will look to reboot the series with new actors.

"No one has approached me about that. Being Sirius Black again? I love Sirius. He wasn't in [the films] enough. He turned up, and then he went through the veil," he said about his character's death in Order of the Phoenix. "I would bet my money that they will get a whole new cast of people in. Maybe in a few years I could do Dumbledore."

Many are assuming the rest of the roles will be played by different actors as well. In the case of Dumbledore, that has to happen, as both of the actors who portrayed him in the films, Richard Harris and Michael Gambon, have passed away.
