All Creatures Great and Small season 5 release date, episodes and cast as show returns
All Creatures Great Small is back on Channel 5 this week and season five sees Nicholas Ralph return as James Herriot, during his time serving in the RAF. The new season also promises the return of Callum Woodhouse as Tristan Farnon.
The new episodes will feature Helen's (Rachel Shenton) new baby as the pair navigate the early stages of parenthood. Meanwhile, Siegfried Farnon (Samuel West) is getting used to relying on Richard Carmody (James Anthony-Rose) for support.
All Creatures Great and Small has become a staple in the Channel 5 schedule, continuing to be the channel's most popular series. The last season drew in 4.4 million viewers.
Earlier this year, the network announced a double commission of the hit series, meaning there is still season six yet to come. In the meantime, seasons one to four are available to watch on My5.

Samuel West as Siegfried Farnon and James Anthony-Rose as Richard Carmody (Image: CHANNEL 5) When is All Creatures Great and Small season 5 out and how many episodes are there?The new season launches on Thursday, September 19 at 9pm on Channel 5 and My5, with a Christmas special airing later this year.
The season is made up of six hour-long episodes, which will continue to air weekly on Thursdays at the same time.
The new series will continue to bring the stories of James Herriot to life as it returns to Darrowby to rejoin the Skeldale Family and the colourful ensemble of farmers, animals and townsfolk.
The synopsis reads: "It is Spring 1941 and we return to Darrowby to find young baby Jimmy keeping our favourite Skeldale House family on their toes.
"Helen is getting the hang of motherhood with James away at RAF Abingdon, Mrs Hall and Siegfried are enjoying having a little one around and Carmody is now part of the furniture.
"With World War II now fully underway, Siegfried is taking up the slack at the surgery, Mrs Hall and Helen are considering their contribution within the community, and Carmody is eager to step up.
"Siegfried is keen to have everyone back, but Tristan’s surprise return won't be quite as straightforward as he hoped."

Who is in the cast of All Creatures Great and Small season 5?Returning for the fifth series is Nicholas Ralph as vet James Herriot and Samuel West as his mentor Siegfried Farnon.
Anna Madeley is back as the backbone of Skeldale House, Mrs Hall, along with Rachel Shenton as the formidable Helen Herriot.
James Anthony-Rose reappears as Richard Carmody, the newest team member at Skeldale House.
Also returning is Patricia Hodge as the wonderfully eccentric Mrs Pumphrey, and her adored pampered Pekingese Tricki-Woo.
Callum Woodhouse reprises his role as Tristan Farnon, Siegfried’s mischievous brother who has been serving in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps.
Guest stars for the first episode include Jeremy Swift as Mr Bosworth, Caroline Menton as Doris, Simon Paisley Day as Wing Commander Whitely, Luke Hammond as Hibbert, Samir Mahat as Banerjee, Callum Coates as Medical Officer Reid and Caroline O’Neill as Dot Fawcett.
