Emmerdale: Robert Sugden says emotional goodbye to Aaron

Emmerdale favourite Ryan Hawley has left fans stunned with his transformation from Robert Sugden, sharing snaps on social media and creating a buzz among the ITV soap's faithful viewers.

The 38-year-old actor, known for his pivotal role in the serial drama, made a dramatic exit from the show in 2019 when his character was imprisoned for the demise of Lee Posner after a shocking attack an encounter that followed Lee's brutal assault on Victoria Sugden, Robert's sister.

Although his character faced the music for his actions and severed ties with the village, supporters are abuzz with speculation over a possible comeback, especially as hints emerged suggesting Robert may not have caused Lee's fatal injuries; it was unveiled that Lee also suffered a blow from his own brother Luke, raising questions about the actual cause of death.

Yet, with no word on a definite return to Emmerdale, Ryan hasn't been twiddling his thumbs. He's delved into new roles, notably portraying Sid Crabtree in All Creatures Great and Small, a part he's set to reprise shortly.

In his latest Instagram update, Ryan reflected with two selfies showing off some experimental facial hair, captioning the post: "Throwback Thursday to the looks that didn't make the cut. Season 5 starts next week.", reports the Mirror.

This nostalgic glimpse sent followers into frenzy, prompting eager pleas for his return to the beloved soap.

The comments section was brimming with anticipation as one fan wrote: "It looks good anyway. Looking forward to your next appearance on ACGAS! Truly enjoyed Sid the first go round."

Another chimed in, saying: "A great series is All Creatures Great and Small. After this could you go back to Emmerdale and get Robert to sort out John Sugden and make the Mill a family home for Aaron and Robert plus get rid of the spiral staircase lol."

Meanwhile, a third admirer expressed their desire for his return to Emmerdale: "Please come Back to Emmerdale Aaron and Robert are my favourite couple."

There was also a nod to style, as another commented: "The floppy hair looks good, it suits you. Will be watching the show when your on".

Aside from his role in All Creatures Great And Small, Ryan made an appearance in Silent Witness in 2021 playing Michael Robson and most recently portrayed Jamie Cleveland in Casualty.

Soap veterans may recall that Ryan wasn't the inaugural Robert Sugden; Karl Davies also depicted the character from 2001 until 2009.
