"The World of Tim Burton" To Open at London's Design Museum With Over 600 Items From Filmmaker's Career

Tim Burton's unwavering legacy will be the focus of an upcoming major exhibition at London's Design Museum.

"The World of Tim Burton" is set to open this October 25 and will chronicle the evolution of the filmmaker's unique design aesthetic, as well as a closer look at his hands-on and design-led approach. Over 600 items from his decorated career are set to be featured, including hundreds of his expressionistic sketches and drawings, props, set designs and costumes from his most iconic bodies of work, including Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman costume from 1992’s Batman Returns and the black and white striped dress worn by Christina Ricci from 1999’s Sleepy Hollow. This will also mark the first public display of the Rave’N dance dress worn by Jenna Ortega as Wednesday for Burton's Netflix series, along with the school uniform and his original character concept drawings.

Accompanying the exhibition will be Tim Burton: Designing Worlds, a new book that explores the relationship between Burton's cinematic projects and the world of design. The title will include an exclusive new interview with Burton, additional interviews with collaborators such as Colleen Atwood and Mackinnon & Saunders and essays by Imogen West-Knights and Ryan White.

"The World of Tim Burton" will run from October 25 to April 21 at the Design Museum.
