Premier League icon Gary Neville was all smiles after a fantastic weekend of football, gleefully taking to Instagram to celebrate Manchester United's success and Liverpool's slip-up. United soared to a 3-0 win against Southampton while Neville's business interest, Salford City FC, clinched a victory over Cheltenham Town in League Two, pulling them close to the play-off spots.

Adding to Neville's joy was Liverpool's unexpected defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest, with Arne Slot suffering his first setback as the Reds' head coach due to a stunning strike from Callum Hudson-Odoi. The result narrows the gap between United and Liverpool to a mere three points, stirring excitement in the Premier League standings.

As an outspoken figure and former Red Devil, Neville couldn't resist a cheeky jab at Liverpool fans, declaring on Instagram: "Well... what a football weekend. United win, Salford win and the big one Liverpool lose! Oh dear beautiful weekend."

Looking ahead, United are set to clash with Barnsley in the EFL Cup this Tuesday, while Liverpool face a tough journey to Italy for their Champions League duel with AC Milan. Meanwhile, Salford have a chance to build upon their momentum next Saturday when they confront Walsall at home.

In a significant move last August, Gary Neville took over the stake of former co-owner Peter Lim in Salford City FC, which was initially bought by the Class of 92 in 2014. The club has seen four promotions since their takeover a decade ago.
