Outlander's Sam Heughan spills 'argument' with Caitriona Balfe over Claire and Jamie scene
Outlander star Sam Heughan has “argued” with Caitriona Balfe about what their first moments together on set were.
The hit Starz series kicked off back in 2014 when World War II nurse Claire Randall (played by Caitriona) is thrown back in time to 18th Century Scotland.
There she meets rugged Highlander Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), with plenty of steamy and nail-biting moments leading up to their marriage.
Caitriona was first cast an incredible 11 years ago, on September 11, 2013, and the show’s official Instagram account has posted a sweet interview clip to celebrate her milestone.
In the video, Sam admits the duo can’t remember what their first ever scene was together.

“We sort of discussed… shall I say discussed? We’ve argued over what was the first day and we should find out.”
Sam and Caitriona have a difference of opinion over their first scene together, with both of them convinced it was two separate yet iconic moments for Claire and Jamie’s early beginnings.
“I feel like it was Jamie’s dislocated shoulder,” Sam recalled. “But it could be on horseback in the rain.”

“But we just got on really well. And I guess we’ve said it before, but I think, you know, the relationship really started there for them, but also for us.
“We hadn’t really spent much time together. You’ll see not only Claire and Jamie’s relationship grow but also mine and Caitriona’s relationship grow as well."
Fans were delighted to see this insight into Sam and Claire’s behind-the-scenes relationship, cementing Claire and Jamie as one of TV’s most beloved couples.
“The most perfect Claire we ever could have asked for,” one viewer gushed in the comments.

Another replied: “I can’t believe these relationships are coming to an end soon. I just can’t take it!!”
And a third emotional fan commented: “She was the perfect choice in every way. Happy cast anniversary Caitríona. And @samheughan please, stop making us cry.”
Claire and Jamie’s adventures will be coming to an end with the upcoming eighth season.
Thankfully, there are also more episodes in season seven still to enjoy later this year as well as a new spin-off, Blood of My Blood, set to explore the origins of Claire and Jamie’s parents.
