BBC Strictly's Oti Mabuse confirms return to show after quitting as pro

TM: Oti Mabuse reveals return to Strictly as choreographer

Oti Mabuse was grilled about her future on Strictly Come Dancing on Friday's This Morning.

The 34 year old professional dancer was on the show to promote her new tour, Viva Carnival, but conversation quickly turned to Strictly where Oti shone as a professional dancer from 2015 till her departure in 2022.

This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary didn't hold back, grilling Oti after she was recently seen at the dance show's studios to which she confirmed her return to Strictly, albeit in a new different role.

"I choreograph, I feel like I never left!" Oti declared, explaining the contrast of her role as a returning choreographer, she added: "It's different because when you're a pro, you have about a week to prepare.

"You're also working with someone who has never danced before. You have to be very mindful and create something that works for them.

"The dedication is superb when you return as a choreographer, collaborating with an extraordinarily talented group of professional dancers who aim to elevate and add brilliance to the show. They are absolutely astounding, so you are tasked with presenting substantial challenges for them!", reports the Mirror.

In 2022, Oti publicly announced her departure from Strictly after an illustrious seven-year stint on the dance floor, sharing emotively on Instagram at the time: "Never easy to say goodbye. I have been part of the most amazing TV show, Strictly Come Dancing for the past seven years and it has been an incredible time."

Oti expressed gratitude for her Strictly experience, adding: "Lifting the glitterball twice and having the best journey with all my celebrities, but also meeting and working with the best team, crew, producers, celebs and incredible professional dancers! You are my family and I adore you all forever."

Her sister, Motsi Mabuse, has retained her position as a judge on the show, sharing the panel with Anton Du Beke, Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood. Oti also has her own judging duties on ITV's Dancing On Ice, alongside Ashley Banjo, Christopher Dean, and Jayne Torvill.

It comes as the anticipation builds for Strictly's upcoming series premiering this Saturday, which will reveal the celebrity and professional dancer pairings. Earlier in the week, despite recent controversies, Strictly Come Dancing triumphantly won the talent show category at the National Television Awards.

This Morning continues on weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV X.
