Dodge Enters Nitrocross with 1,000-Plus-HP Electric Hornet Rally Car

Dodge is making its debut in the 2024-2025 Nitrocross Series in the highly competitive Group E class, unveiling four 1,000-plus-hp Dodge Hornet R/T FC1-X rally cars. These all-wheel-drive, electric-powered vehicles will be fielded by the championship-winning Dreyer & Reinbold Racing (DRR) team, which has a long history in motorsports.

The season kicked off at Richmond Raceway on September 7-8, where fans were able to see the high-performance Hornet R/T FC1-X in action. These electric rally cars, powered by four axial flux motors, generate 1,070 hp and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.4 seconds. This makes them formidable competitors on Nitrocross' high-adrenaline tracks, which combine pavement and dirt with jumps and sharp turns.

Notably, the DRR team will feature an impressive lineup of drivers, including 17-year-old Lia Block, daughter of Ken Block the youngest competitor and only woman in the Group E class. Block is joined by two-time Group E champion Robin Larsson, Fraser McConnell and Andres Bakkerud, creating a strong team poised for success.

Matt McAlear, CEO of Dodge, highlighted the synergy between the brand and the young, performance-driven audience of Nitrocross. "We're looking forward to a great inaugural season, and we’re excited to bring the Dodge Hornet to this fast-growing series," he said.
