Strictly Come Dancing star Jamie Borthwick's BBC fate 'sealed' after major clue
Jamie Borthwick signed up for Strictly Come Dancing just months after he won the Christmas Special - but that's not the only reason the EastEnders actor is likely to succeed in the BBC competition.
Strictly first hit screens in 2004 and has been the perfect place for soap stars to show that acting isn't their only skill. Since it first kicked off 20 years ago, there has been at least one soap actor in each series.
While soap stars have a history of thriving in the competition, the one that does particularly well is EastEnders. Over the last two decades, 15 EastEnders stars have finished within the top five spots.
During the first ever series, Spencer Moon star Christopher Parker came runner-up behind Natasha Kaplinsky. EastEnders came out on top the following year when Jill Halfpenny lifted the glitterball trophy with Darren Bennett.

The stars of EastEnders are known to succeed on Strictly (Image: BBC)The next EastEnders champion didn't come until five years later when Kara Tointon, known for playing Dawn Swann, won the show with Artem Chigvintsev. Jack Branning star Scott Maslen finished the series in fourth place the same year.
However, that's not to say the stars of the BBC soap didn't succeed between those five years. Patsy Palmer finished in fifth place in 2005, while Louisa Lytton narrowly missed out on a place in the final the following year.
Two EastEnders stars took to the dancefloor in 2007, with Letitia Dean finishing in fourth place and soap villain Matt Di Angelo being pipped at the finish line by Alesha Dixon.
Natalie Cassidy followed in a number of her co-stars footsteps and joined the line-up in 2009, with her moves earning her the fifth spot.

Famed for playing Max Branning on the BBC soap, Jake Wood decided to swap Walford for the BBC ballroom in 2014. He narrowly missed out on beating his on-screen brother, finishing fifth with Janette Manrara.
The success stories continued coming as the years went on, with Kellie Bright, Emma Barton and Maisie Smith announced as runners-up in 2015, 2019 and 2020. Rose-Ayling Ellis was the contestant who brought glory back to the soap when she was crowned champion alongside Giovanni Pernice in 2021.
An EastEnders star hasn't won the show in three years, however, Molly Rainford and Bobby Brazier came as close as they could, finishing runners-up in 2022 and 2023.
Despite having big shoes to fill, there is no doubt Jamie, 30, best known for playing Jay Brown since 2006, will succeed in the competition.
