GB News presenter slams Jeremy Kyle saying show should 'absolutely not' be on TV
Talkshow host Jeremy Kyle's court appearance on Thursday has been a major topic of conversation, after he denied humiliating a guest who reportedly took his own life just a week after appearing on his show.
During his 2019 appearance, Steve Dymond failed a lie detector test, which he was told was "99.9 per cent accurate", despite insisting he had never cheated on his ex-fiancée - and he was visibly distraught.
When the lie detector results were revealed, Jeremy told him to "grow a pair of balls and tell the goddamn truth", adding: "I wouldn't trust you with a chocolate button." The inquest was discussed in the GB News studio today, with Nigel Nelson admitting he found shows like Jeremy's "incredibly uncomfortable" to watch. "It just felt like whenever you tuned in, you were looking into the Roman Colosseum as they threw people to the lions," the horrified host exclaimed. Stephen Dixon agreed, arguing that a show of that nature should "absolutely not" be on television.
Referring to Jeremy's comments, he stated: "He was saying, 'I de-escalated it, I calmed it down, that's what the show is all about.' That isn't calming it down, that isn't conflict resolution, that's stoking it up!"

"You've personally in life got to be able to draw some lines and that would be a line for me."
Blasting "the nastiness that pervades society at the moment", he earnestly continued: "You've got to have your own moral compass!"
Nigel suggested that Jeremy Kyle's show had been modelled on the template of USA talk show Jerry Springer, which was also viewed critically by some during its run on TV for appearing to mock and humiliate guests for entertainment.

However, Stephen argued that Jeremy's show had an extra "edge" which he felt uncomfortable about and exclaimed: "I would never present a show that relies on me being horrible to people."
Referring to claims that the late guest had requested to be on the show 40 times, Nigel added that his mental health issues should have been taken into account when deciding whether to allow him to take part.
"It does bring into question the duty of care that the programme makers have," he declared.
