ITV Good Morning Britain fans switch off as Rob Rinder wipes away tears over Kate Garraway

Good Morning Britain host Rob Rinder wipes away tears

Robert Rinder couldn't hold himself together while presenting Good Morning Britain alongside Kate Garraway this morning (September 6). The ITV presenters had welcomed on Scouts leader Dwayne Fields when Kate decided to ask him some nature based questions - much to the dismay of viewers at home.

Kate got a little dig in at her co-star, Rob, before moving on to questions. Addressing the guest, Kate said to Dwayne: "I know you're busy so we won't keep you much longer but can you answer some of the Scouting questions that Rob failed so dismally to do earlier on?"

She added: "Even though he looks like a boy scout, clearly he has no survival skills." Rob looked absolutely perplexed as he looked off camera at the crew before shaking with laughter. Straight-faced, Kate continued: "What is the right way to hold an eel, Dwayne?"

The ITV guest looked stunned and lost for words as he didn't know how to answer. Kate stepped in saying: "I've got the answer! If you hold the eel a few inches below the head and support it under the main body - apparently."

Rob continued to shake in hysterics as he wiped away tears. He struggled to compose himself as Kate went on to ask: "Do you know how to light a wet match?"

Dwayne suggested using a magnesium flint instead, to which replied that rubbing the match in your hair would surprisingly work.

But fans at home were not overly impressed with the segment as they threatened to "switch off". One X/Twitter user fumed: "What is this s**t on the box, pass the remote #gmb."

Another added: "Wake me up when this segment is over #gmb". While a third criticised Kate, saying: "She's just embarrassing..#gmb."

Meanwhile, others thought it was hilarious and admitted that the segment really brightened their day. One wrote: "Hahaha Rob's like wtf she on about #gmb."

"Robbie Rinder trying to hold it together while the gorgeous Kate Garraway is being her delightful self is bringing joy to my Friday #GMB," someone else added.

The backlash against Kate today comes as she made a heartbreaking admission over her late husband, Derek Draper, on yesterday's show. She has been nominated for a National Television Award for her documentary but she has not yet spoken about the nomination much yet for a sad reason.

Kate confessed to Lorraine Kelly and her co-host Ed Balls: "I haven't posted I've been nominated yet because I got so much backlash from doing it, for people saying 'stop going on about it'. But actually, I realise I'm letting people down."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX
