Emmerdale viewers 'slam' Lydia Dingle for repeatedly making 'deadly' mistake

Emmerdale fans are fuming with Lydia Dingle (played by Karen Blick) after they accused her of repeatedly ignoring abused Belle Dingle's (Eden Taylor-Draper) cry for help.

During Wednesday's trip to the village (September 4), struggling Belle watched on as her violent estranged husband Tom King (James Chase) cosied up to Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) who is clueless about his domestic abuse.

The evil vet has been tormenting Belle both physically and mentally for months but his antics have been constantly dismissed.

But things have got a lot worse for wedding planner Belle when left their marriage as Tom secretly spies on her every move, pretends her dog is dead, and warns she will never be free of him.

Belle sought cover on the church steps and looked at her ex as he put his arm around Amelia. Lydia bumped into Belle and asked her to accompany her home for a cup of tea and a chat.

But while the women are talking Lydia fails to notice Belle's desperation as she remains under Tom's abusive grip.

At first, Lydia comforts Belle and asks her to move into her family home so she is not alone in her cottage.

She then dished out advice on separating from a long-term partner, but Belle responded by stating she wished Tom was dead as she looked defeated.

"You don't mean that, not really", Lydia said encouraging her to open up about her feelings but their conversation soon took a wrong turn.

Lydia explained she wanted Belle to live with her to ensure she is "well" and "taking her meds", implying Belle's behaviour is down to mental health and not abuse.

Despite Belle insisting she is "well" and she isn't imagining Tom's vicious antics - Lydia brushed off her comment.

Emmerdale viewers are furious with Belle being mistreated and not taken seriously by Lydia.

Taking to X, one person wrote: "I used to like Lydia but I can’t stand her now, seriously, she needs to clear off…"

A second stated: "Lydia once again failing Belle spectacularly #Emmerdale", while a third chimed in: "Lydia, Belle talking about feelings and what's going on, none of you people isn't listening to you #Emmerdale."

"Stop patronising her Lydia #Emmerdale", urged one viewer.

"I really wish Belle could have someone decent in her life to confide in. Lydia is as useful as a catflap in a submarine", added another.
