Ruth Jones' witty response as Gavin & Stacey fan tells co-star she hasn't aged

The filming of the highly anticipated final episode of Gavin and Stacey has begun, and the excitement in Barry Island is high this week.

Stars of the show - Ruth Jones, James Corden and Joanna Page - have been seen on set shooting for the Christmas special, their first reprisal of their character roles in half a decade.

Amidst the flurry of fans flocking to observe Nessa, Smithy and Stacey in action, a comical interaction between Jones and Page was caught during a break in filming. In TikTok footage shared by scottdavies81, an admirer compliments Page, saying: "You don't look a day older", which she graciously appreciates with a "Thank you."

Then in comes Jones, belovedly known as our Ness, humorously responding: "She didn't say that to me." The playful exchange had observers erupting into laughter.

Soon after, someone from the crowd yelled: "You look 10 years younger Ness!" The cast then engaged with their supporters, with Page asking if everyone is having a great time. Fans told them they were having a "brilliant day" as they watched the stars get into character once more.

It's evident that the Christmas special is highly-anticipated. The stars were in high spirits, mingling with fans when Page beamed at them: "It's lovely to meet you."

The video has since sparked a flurry of compliments for the cast's warmth and approachability. One fan gushed: "Joanna Page seems like the loveliest person."

Another enthused: "This programme is the best thing that's ever happened to Barry. The business it has brought to the area is incredible."

A third chimed in with: "She doesn't look to have aged at all." Meanwhile, a fourth added: "Lovely to see them chatting to everyone, and being so down to earth."

Excitement is building for the final episode, which is set to air on Christmas Day, marking the first return of the BBC sitcom since its 2019 Christmas special cliffhanger. During the episode, Jones' character, Nessa, popped the question to Smithy, played by Corden.

It's left people desperate to find out his answer ever since. Fans are eagerly awaiting to hear his response in the upcoming festive special, which will finally arrive in a few months.
