GMB: Susanna Reid reflects on being 'shaken' by mugging

Susanna Reid detailed how she was once the victim of a mugging while discussing phone theft on Good Morning Britain.

During Wednesday's show, the ITV host confessed it's extremely shocking when an incident like this happens.

She said: "About 25 years ago, I had my handbag cut off of me by a mugger.

"You do feel very shaken, not just for the day or the 24 hours but for quite a long period of time."

It wasn't just Susanna who shared her harrowing ordeal as guest Andrew Pierce explained he also had something stolen from him while out in public.

He told the hosts that a few years ago, his phone was taken from him.

Andrew commented: "They just whacked me in the street. It was in my hand and it was a salutary lesson. I very rarely now."

Although Ed Balls tried to make light of the situation as he asked: "Were they trying to steal your phone or just to whack you?"

Susanna didn't seem too impressed with his probe as she made a sympathetic noise while Andrew confessed the mugger most likely didn't know who he was.

He said: "They came from behind. But that's why I'm also very agitated about these electric modified bikes."

Susanna's confession comes after her return to the ITV show following a brief absence on Tuesday.

The GMB host was back on the programme this week after a long summer break, although was missing from her second show.

As the episode kicked off, with Ranvir Singh in her place, the stand-in announced it was because one of Susanna's sons had taken unwell overnight.

However, she was back alongside Ed Balls on Wednesday, much to the delight of viewers.

One viewer tweeted: "What a double act. Keep it going."

Another commented: "Good to see you back this morning Susanna, hope everything's ok."

While a third fan wrote: "Susanna back on duty after yesterday's family emergency - such a trooper!"
