Observatory may issue Strong Wind Signal No 3

The Hong Kong Observatory on Wednesday morning said it may consider issuing the Strong Wind Signal No 3 later in the day. It had issued the Standby Signal No 1 at 5.40pm on Tuesday, as Severe Tropical Cyclone Yagi neared the city. The HKO added that the No 1 signal will remain in force until at least noon on Wednesday, with Yagi maintaining a distance of more than 400 kilometres from the SAR on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. The HKO said it will consider issuing the Strong Wind Signal No 3 later on Wednesday as the storm edges closer to the coast of southern China. "Under the influence of Yagi, the weather over the coast of Guangdong will deteriorate in the latter part of this week. There will be heavy squally showers and seas will be rough with swells," the Observatory said on its website. Members of the public are advised to take note of the latest weather forecast.
