Josephine Jobert looked so different from her Death in Paradise character Florence Cassell in her new role.

The fan-favourite actress is embarking on a new role in the upcoming police drama Saint-Pierre. The French actress will be tackling crime in a different setting, playing Deputy Chief Genevieve 'Arch' Archambault in the series set in the picturesque French territory of Saint-Pierre et Miquelon, near Canada.

The show's official social media account teased fans with a glimpse of Josephine's new look for the role, posting: "Main character moments with @josephinejobert_official," showcasing her dressed sharply in a black jumper and chic beige coat.

Joining Josephine in the cast are Allan Hawco as Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Inspector Donny 'Fitz' Fitzpatrick and James Purefoy portraying Sean Gallagher.

The show promises a thrilling mix of crime-solving, with a synopsis hinting at the dynamic between two contrasting officers. It reads: "As if by fate, these two seasoned officers with very different policing skills and approaches are forced together to solve unique and exciting crimes."

This marks a significant shift from the vibrant Caribbean backdrop of Death in Paradise, where Josephine recently returned to bid farewell to Neville Parker, reports Wales Online.

With Ralf Little stepping away from his lead detective role earlier this year, Don Gilet has stepped in to fill the vacancy on the fictional island of Saint Marie.

Discussing his choice to exit the series, Ralf remarked: "This last series was always going to be my last series, I had talks with the BBC, and with Red Planet, the production company and we all agreed that it just felt."

"If it was in my heart, like if it was just a heart decision, I'd have wanted to do it for 20 more years.

"But just for the show, and... for my character Neville, it just sort of felt like his story... it deserved to be sort of finished and his sort of journey... sort of deserved to be completed and he deserved a nice happy ending and so it just felt right."

Death in Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
